It's Curtains For You was founded by Julie Ann and Peter Salo. Over ten years ago Julie Ann began making draperies for our
own home using a Sears Kenmore sewing machine on a card table and cutting out her patterns on the floor.
As word began to spread about Julie Ann's work, the demand for her window treatments increased. Peter joined her in the
effort and while continuing to work in the computer software business, he began the process of helping Julie Ann to transform
a serious hobby into a serious business.
Soon the basement was filled with industrial sewing machines, cutting tables and shelves of fabrics, trims and endless
patterns and books of treatment types and styles.

In 1998 we found it necessary to move the business out of the house and incorporate. Our first workroom was in an old General
Store, circa 1860, in the small, quiet hamlet of Oxford Depot located a short distance from Museum Village.

Three and half years later, after hiring some very hard to find, talented seamstresses and Peter quitting his regular job
to work full time on enlarging the business, we found ourselves making 100's of custom window treatments for about a dozen
local independent interior designers. As a result we realized that we had outgrown this adorable little workroom in it's beautiful
country setting. It's Curtains For You had no choice but to move. A larger, and sadly, more industrial space was needed and
we found it in Tuxedo, NY on Rt 17 where zoning laws did not allow a walk in retail operation. But we had the space we needed
to suite the workload and the ever increasing number of people and equipment.

Over the next two years, It's Curtains For You employed as many as 10 drapery makers and was producing 1000's of custom treatments
for dozens of interior designers from Orange, Rockland and Bergen counties.

In September of 2004, we decided to change our business model. At that time we were operating at 70% wholesale fabrication
"to the trade" and 30% retail referrals whereby we designed, fabricated and installed treatments for our own clients.
We had decided to flip these percentages and focus on our own customers while continuing to fabricate for a select group of
Interior Designers. This would require moving to a new location where we could open a showroom and still have a space for
a drapery making workroom.

As a result of this decision, a year later, we moved into our present location in the Historic Monroe Cheese Factory on Millpond
Parkway, just walking distance from Monroe's "main street", Lakes Road.
Over the last 8 years, we have made and installed 100's of window treatments for our own customers in homes and restaurants
from Monroe to Milford, from Tuxedo Park to Tom's River, from Warwick to Westchester and from New York City to Philadelphia
to Jersey City.
